Meet Lore Dada
"Art, for me, is the convergence a story, a perspective and the unknown - assembled by the artist and unlocked by the viewer. My preferred medium is acrylic on canvas."
Temitayo Lore Dada is a multi-talented contemporary artist with a flair for stimulating thought through art. Open to different art forms with a proclivity for figurative art and expressionism, Lore’s works are characterized by raw, yet vivid colors and femininity. Born in Nigeria, raised in the United States – and having traveled to places including South America, East Asia, Europe and numerous countries in sub-saharan Africa, Lore Dada’s artwork embodies captivating idiosyncrasies reflected in various world cultures.
Having a Bsc in Finance from New York University (NYU – Stern School of Business) and a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of Warwick, Lore’s diverse academic background is indicative of the diverse skills she embodies. Painting from the age of two, Lore Dada has always had a gift for creativity, which is also reflected in her published written works and even her cooking.
Comparing art to the hypothetical woman who Somali-British poet Warsan Shire describes as “… terrifying and strange and beautiful; something not everyone knows how to love, ” Lore Dada encourages young creatives to fully embrace their individuality and unique complexities – and unashamedly reflect these qualities in their work.
Having participated in a number of exhibitions in Nigeria and in New York, including an exhibition in support of people living with disabilities, Lore Dada is passionate about using art to give a voice to those marginalized by society, while empowering others.
